EnChroma Prescription Guide

Almost all of EnChroma styles and indoor and outdoor lenses can be customized for your personal prescription. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Shop Our Collections and select your favorite frame style and lens type.
  2. Click on the "BUY IN PRESCRIPTION" button and choose either Single Vision or Progressive.
  3. Add the glasses to your cart, proceed to checkout, and make your purchase.
  4. You should receive an email to confirm your order and instructions to email us a copy of your prescription at rx@enchroma.com

How to send us your prescription

Send us your prescription by email. Scan or take a photo of your prescription and email it to rx@enchroma.com. Be sure to include your order number in the subject line.

Prescription checklist:

1. Make sure your prescription contains:

  • Prescription information for both right and left eyes.
  • Pupillary Distance (PD) number. Pupillary Distance is the distance (in millimeters) between the center of your pupils (see diagram below).
  • Fitting height (This applies only to Fit to Your Frames orders of progressive lenses).

2. Your prescription should be within these ranges:

  • Single Vision: SPH -4 to +3 CYL -4 to +4
  • Progressive: SPH -4 to +3 CYL -4 to +4 ADD +1 to +3

3. Your prescription must be current. Most prescriptions need to be renewed every two years. Also, be sure that your prescription is signed by your eye care professional.

Additional Information about Prescription Details:

Here’s an example of what a single vision prescription would look like. For single vision lenses, please be sure to provide a Pupillary Distance (PD) as defined below.

Progressive lenses require some additional information placed in the Near Vision (N.V.) or sometimes labeled ‘ADD’ boxes. ADD identifies the additional power needed for reading when a progressive lens is being ordered. Pupillary distance (PD) is needed to complete a prescription order.

Pupillary Distance (PD)

Pupillary Distance, also called PD, is the distance in millimeters between the center of your pupils. Usually it is a number between 50-80 mm. It can also be written as the 1/2 PD (half-PD) which is two numbers, such as 32/32, where each number is typically between 25-40 mm. Often, doctors do not write the PD on their patient’s prescription. However, in many locations, doctors are required by law to provide patients with the PD if they request it. Next time you get your prescription updated, remember to ask your doctor to include the PD.

Fitting Height (FH)

Fitting Height (FH) is the vertical measurement in millimeters from the most bottom edge of your lenses to pupil center. Fitting height only applies to Progressive Fit to Frame orders.

Out-of-range prescriptions

Out-of-range prescriptions might be possible, depending on the geometry of your frames, your prescription and PD.
